No second-class Christians (Ephesians 2:19)

June 9, 2019June 3, 2019 by Lionel Windsor

I once visited a church and sat next to an alcoholic called Phil.[1] I know Phil was an alcoholic because he told me quite soon after church finished. The whole gathering had been lively and emotional, with professional music and young happy faces…

Quick wrath, quick atonement; stored up wrath, planned atonement

June 4, 2019June 3, 2019 by Andrew Barry

May 26, 2019May 5, 2019 by Ben George

Ever heard someone say that they don’t need to go to church? That they can just read the Bible at home, or watch sermons online? While there may be some good reasons why people might temporarily need to be away from church, or even for longer…

Caring for single mums at church

May 21, 2019May 23, 2019 by Ruth Baker

Church is a place of labels. Some are useful—for example, we wear name tags so we can more easily engage with others in fellowship, or sometimes we’re categorized into groups so we can be pastored more easily. But some labels are burdensome to…

Bathurst needs Sydney’s pallium

May 19, 2019May 19, 2019 by Ed Loane

In the medieval church the Archbishop of Canterbury, who was appointed by the crown in England, needed to receive a pallium from the Pope which represented his ecclesiastical authority. The pallium was thin scarf-like vestment and the last…
