Bible Reading with Ruth Baker

December 13, 2022December 13, 2022 by Ruth Baker

Ruth, can you tell us a bit about yourself, how you came to follow Jesus and who is in your family? I’m 50 years old, living in western Sydney and I’ve been a Christian for about 15 years. I’m a single mum of two boys aged 10 and 12, and two dogs aged 1 and…

How I came to know Jesus – Ruth Baker

September 21, 2021September 21, 2021 by Ruth Baker

Memories can feel like a series of hazy vignettes—snippets of people, places, conversations and feelings. In my case, it’s a two-up-two-down in the north of England and playing with the other kids in the street. A gap year in Ireland, goat herding…

What I pray for my kids – with Ruth Baker

April 29, 2021April 29, 2021 by Ruth Baker

Expressing godly womanhood in a secular workplace

March 4, 2021March 4, 2021 by Ruth Baker

Editor’s note: This article is a personal reflection from a woman exploring how a complementarian understanding of men and women in Scripture might apply to her own working life. It does not seek to outline or defend the complementarian position…

Making our churches a safe space for the separated and divorced

January 14, 2021January 14, 2021 by Ruth Baker

Here’s an interesting thing: according to the 2016 census, 12% of our population is separated or divorced.[1] Yet only 6% of our church population is separated or divorced.[2] What does this discrepancy mean? Are our churches just excellent…

The journey of a lifetime: An interview with Ruth Baker

December 15, 2020December 15, 2020 by Ruth Baker

Ruth, thanks so much for speaking to us. I’ve heard you say before that you are a very ‘unlikely’ Christian. Can you tell us a bit about who you are and how you came to trust Jesus? I grew up in the 1970s in the north of England with wonderful hippy, anti-establishment,…
